Located just off-campus at the University of Michigan, the Varsity Ann Arbor Apartments is a total of 178,380-square-foot, 13-story, student housing. It features 173 student apartments with a total of 418 beds and two levels of parking within the structure. Great importance was placed upon the pedestrian experience and the building details. The streets cape itself ranges from urban to suburban, and the design considered the surrounding historic home and churches. The Z-shaped footprint was created to form an entry plaza that orients southeast towards the University of Michigan campus. Revealing a dramatic 2-story lobby, their is a north-facing 2-story wall of glass looking out onto the entry plaza. A vertical metal element floats above the entrance plaza as well, running up vertically and the becoming a folded metal plan over the top of building's sky lounge creating a rooftop terrace.
