Commissioned by the Friends of Goodale Park, with support from the Columbus Recreation and Parks department the Goodale Park Fountain sits within the only pond in the largest park within the neighborhood of Victorian Village. The design was inspired by reheard of the history of the park and the Sells Mansion - also known as “The Circus House” for it was home to the Sell’s Brother Circus family - that sits at the corner of Buttles and Dennison avenues and early 20th century photographs depicting vertical, rock work fountains, previously in the park. With the two elephants paying homage to the Sell’s Brother Circus’s renowned elephant troupe, and the actual base being able to withstand the ice formations that coincide with having a year-round running fountain, the design is the climax of Goodale Park.
