Originally located in the Central Elementary school, the planetarium was dismantled and placed into storage when the city of Coshocton demolished the elementary school with the completion of the new combined elementary school. Rebuilt within the high school, this 50-seat, state-of-the-art planetarium was rebuilt utilizing a former double-wide classroom space within the fourth-floor of the high school that was no longer in use. The architectural challenges of installing a full-size planetarium into an already built space, included extending the roof structure in order to properly hang the full-size dome and installing air conditioning since the rest of the classroom spaces within the high school are not equipped with AC.
